About Missouri Union Presbytery
The Presbytery of Missouri Union is the governing body for 74 Presbyterian churches in North and Central Missouri. We are part of the Presbyterian Church, USA, the largest Presbyterian denomination in the United States. The geographical area that makes up Missouri Union Presbytery stretches from the Missouri/Iowa border on the north to the Lake of the Ozarks on the South, from the Mississippi River on the East to U.S. Highway 65 on the West.
Presbyterians are Christians, who believe in traditions that came out of the Protestant Reformation, such as: the primary importance of reading and understanding Scripture, that God calls ALL people to ministry, and that lay members, not just clergy, are to fully participate in the work of the church. "Presbyterian" describes our form of church government, where elected leaders (Elders) make decisions for the church.
Congregations with members of many ages and stages, in both small and large communities, are part of Missouri Union Presbytery. To find a church near you, please link to the PCUSA website (upper left-hand on website home page) and enter you zip code or the name of a nearby city/town. To speak with a person, please email/phone the presbytery office in Jefferson City (contact info below).

| Posted by: VickiSchildmeyer on 05/12/2008 12:25 PM (Read: 3) |
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is issuing a special appeal through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) in an effort to support long-term recovery efforts in response to the cyclone that has devastated Myanmar. An appeal card is being sent to every congregation in the next few days. In addition PDA has committed $100,000 from One Great Hour of Sharing and designated funds to provide emergency assistance to survivors in Myanmar. The appeal card is available to download online at http://www.pcusa.org/pda/response/asia/myanmar. Please be in prayer for those most vulnerable and so adversely affected by this catastrophe.
Grace and Peace, Mindy Marchal
A bulletin insert is available. Information about PDA will be accessible online. We encourage churches to use them as they become available. Linda Valentine, Executive Director General Assembly Council expressed out hope that, “The PC(USA) through its disaster relief agency seeks to accompany the people of Myanmar through this catastrophe. Our mission is to heal broken lives, as well as broken homes.” May 8, 2008
